A tipi also teepee or tepee is a tent, traditionally made of animal skins upon wooden poles. Modern tipis usually have a canvas covering. They are still in use in these communities, though now primarily for ceremonial purposes rather than daily living.
Is it too wet or cold outside? Is boredom taking over? The series covers play activities for each letter of the alphabet for those days when you are stuck inside.
Greetings and welcome to Nomadics Tipi Makers. Thank you for visiting us. Our tipis teepees, tepees are authentic Sioux-style to which we have added reinforcing and design variations that are the results of our own tipi living experiences in snow, below-zero temperatures, coastal rain forests and hurricane force winds.
A traditional plains teepee also spelled tipi is a roomy and durable structure, big enough to house a fire and several people comfortably. If you want to build a teepee for recreation, novelty, or because you want to live in an alternative structure, read on to find out where to start. If you want to make a teepee, gather a piece of canvas that's about 15 x 30 feet and 12 lodge poles that are at least 3 feet longer than the width of the canvas.
It is without a doubt one of the most picturesque of all shelters and one of the most practical movable dwellings ever invented". The teepee design that we use is similar to what would have be found throughout North America. The canvas allows natural light in during the day and a glowing effect when a fire is burning at night.
Here's how my wife and I made our own Teepee that we use for camping and going to Rendezvous. It is very spacious inside with room for 6 adults plus our gear and we can have a fire inside for those cold nights. Did you use this instructable in your classroom?

TYVEK is no good, too costly, too short, and really rattles in the wind! Anyone got any good ideas out there? The original one cost me a bundle and I don't want to go there again!
