As we all know, Las Vegas thrives on tourism and tourist dollars. With a slogan of "What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" and an 'anything goes' mentality, one will think anything goes actually means anything goes. If you are gay or lesbian, the first thing you will notice in Las Vegas is that the gay scene isn't as open as one would expect and you seldom see people of the same sex displaying public affection like you will in places like New York, San Francisco or West Hollywood.
The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, a community-based organization, supports and promotes activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, its allies, and low to moderate income residents in Southern Nevada. Just a three-mile drive north from the Strip or south from the downtown Fremont hotels, these centrally-located hour private clubs are easy to reach and fairly close to many of the major gay bars and nightlife spaces as well as many major major casino resorts. It is just under 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas.
June is just too hot -- not sweaty-sexy-ripped-bodies hot, but sweaty-drag-queens-with-eyeliner-running-down-their-faces hot. That said, there are still plenty of places to celebrate Pride in Vegas, this and every other month of the year. This is Vegas, after all.
